Welcome to the Pacific Northwest
Naven Restoration Specialties is a Portland, Oregon based business specializing in the manufacture of wood and metal components for vintage homes and commercial buildings. Attention to detail and the use of period-authentic style, design, and fasteners, set us apart from many in our field. We supply contractors and homeowners, as well as other craftspersons.
Woodwork includes the replication of old door and window styles, obsolete moulding patterns, true mortise and tenon joinery, long length tongue and groove flooring, stair and porch parts and railings, colonnades and arches. Around the yard and garden, wooden fencing and gates, along with pergolas and garden bridges, are in our repertory. The use of traditional species, dimensions and grains is a given; old-growth Douglas Fir is frequently called for and employed, along with Western Red Cedar and Alaskan Yellow Cedar. Vertical grain, rift-sawn, and flat-sawn are available. Mill orders for these species and others, along with special cuts and dimensions, can be made.
Metalwork for old homes encompasses all sorts of house hardware, functional as well as decorative. Door and window hardware, carriage house door hardware, and railings are included here. The fabrication of custom lighting fixtures and the restoration, or replication, of original vintage fixtures is frequently undertaken. For the garden, fencing and gates, arbors and trellises can be supplied in a variety of styles. Emphasis is placed on forged elements, and both geometric and organic forms are used to their best advantage. Work is executed in iron/steel, copper, brass and bronze. Sculptural pieces and furniture are done on commission.
Projects completed are almost all in the Greater Portland, Oregon area, while our products have traveled much farther afield to be installed by others. Dick Naven has been operating in Portland since 1972. If you have a project that calls for something we make well, or something you can't find anywhere else, please contact us with particulars.
